We seldom know what goes on behind the scenes when a coach steps down. This would seem to be the case with the resignation of Cony High School baseball coach Ray Vallee.

His statistics changed slightly but otherwise the transition for Luke Hammond was a smooth one. And the end result was the same: A state championship.
