Did your district receive its subsidy?
I reported this morning that nearly a third of the state's school districts -- 91 to be exact -- did not receive subsidy checks from the state this month.
Officials at the Department of Education say the districts have not turned in documents with information the department needs to determine the size of the subsidy districts will receive next school year.School district officials say they are adjusting to a new, labor-intensive data submission system. To add to that, turnover in district central offices, some officials say, is increasing as school systems work to consolidate with others.
A key objective of the consolidation initiative is to cut down on districts' administrative expenses.
Has your district received its subsidy this month? Check this list to see which school systems have not.
It was down to 90 districts last time I checked. One district must have submitted the needed information since I wrote my article yesterday.
