Collins offers amendment to slash oil subsidies

The Senate is casting vote after vote today on amendments to the fiscal 2009 budget resolution. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, will offer an amendment eliminating subsidies for oil and gas companies, providing a $500 tax credit for individuals who purchase clean burning wood stoves and a tax credit for the purchase of a plug-in hybrid electric cars.
