Pretty in pink

Ken “Snapper” Cashman just figured he was helping a good cause when he handed over a $20 bill. That he’d end up decked out in pink fishing gear came as a complete surprise.
Cashman, of Waterville, won a Casting for Recovery raffle this week -- one that earned him a pink fishing vest, pink fly rod, pink reel and pink line. Casting for Recovery is a national organization utilizing fly-fishing as a recovery tool for woman who have, or have had, breast cancer.
Cashman is donating the equipment back to Casting for Recovery. L.L. Bean donated the outfit to the raffle.
“I have 14 fly rods myself already,” Cashman said. “When I bought (the tickets), I just figured it was probably for a good cause, but I didn’t look to see what it was for really.
“I don't really need (the gear). I’m sure they can use it more than I can.”
