What's next for Cianchette?

Peter Cianchette is coming back to Maine now that his time as U.S. Ambassador to Costa Rica has ended, according to a release from the embassy.

Cianchette, a 2002 Republican gubernatorial candidate, said in the statement that the Bush and Obama administrations have worked to combat “organized crime, drug trafficking and gangs” in the region. A Bush appointee, Cianchette served just over a year in Costa Rica.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve my country and look forward to returning to my home state of Maine,” he said in the statement.

Cianchette had announced a 2006 gubernatorial run, but pulled out early on saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.
