Mitchell, Rowe spin Kos pollTwo Democrats running for governor got their PR machines cranking on Friday to try to put the best light on a somewhat bizarre Daily Kos poll. Former Attorney General Steve Rowe and Senate President Elizabeth Mitchell put out press releases to highlight the positives for their campaigns. Rowe said the results show he has the highest favorability of any of the candidates and Mitchell said she would beat all Republican challengers by at least 6 percentage points. Mitchell’s campaign also cited a July poll of 301 likely Democratic primary voters that put her ahead of Rowe 46 percent to 24 percent. When other candidates were added to the question, even one who has yet to jump in (Pat McGowan), Mitchell’s number dropped to 37 percent. The Daily Kos poll struck me as bizarre because of the seemingly random pairings and the exclusion of candidates who may have a legitimate shot.
