Dems accuse Otten of Web site plagiarism

The Maine Democratic Party came out swinging today at Republican Les Otten, accusing him of “blatant plagiarism” on his Web site.

Otten, former owner of Sunday River Ski Resort and a former vice chairman of the Boston Red Sox, announced this week he is forming an exploratory committee to consider a run for governor.

The Dems say Otten’s campaign Web site is “nearly an exact copy of the Obama Web site.”

“Otten and Obama share the initial O in common but that’s where the similarity ends,” said Arden Manning, executive director of the Maine Democratic Party, in a statement. “The truth is, Barack Obama was not elected president because he had a snazzy graphic and well designed web site.”

Edie Smith, the campaign manager for Otten’s exploratory committee, said they didn’t copy the Obama Web site, and that they used the ‘O’ theme because it’s Otten’s last name.

Here’s part of her statement, sent via e-mail:

“We are very proud of our web site, which was built from scratch, from the ground up, by a locally owned company -- INsyt of Farmington, Maine,” she wrote. “This is the initial web site of the Les Otten Exploratory Campaign and we anticipate that additional information will be added as Les travels throughout the state listening to the people of Maine.”

A Brian Urlacher injury means that the whole city of Chicago is likely in a state of mourning. A typical Chicago Bears team lives and dies by its defense, and doubly so by it's linebackers, so when there's a Brian Urlacher injury… it means bad news. Perhaps… bad news bears?) The prolific and stalwart middle linebacker picked up a fractured wrist, that required immediate surgery, and he is most likely to be out for the entire season. rlacher has been a staple of the Chicago Bears since he was drafted in 2000, arguably one of the best linebackers in the NFL. It would be worth payday loans at least to get a Brian Urlacher injury healed quickly.
