
Concannon hearing in DC todayThe confirmation hearing for former Maine Department Human Services Commissioner Kevin Concannon will be held today in Washington D.C., according to U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree’s office. Concannon has been nominated by President Barack Obama to the Under Secretary of Agriculture for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services. That includes overseeing the school lunch program and the Women, Infants and Children program. Concannon served as DHS commissioner under Gov. Angus King. He left the post in 2003 to take a job in Iowa. Pingree will introduce him at the hearing, which is before the Senate Agriculture Committee. She’s scheduled to do her introduction at 10:30 a.m. and he will give his opening statement at 10:35 a.m., according to Pingree’s office.
