Animal plate now a realityAnimal lovers of Maine, unite! A new specialty license plate dedicated to our furry and feathered friends is now officially available in Maine. Gov. John Baldacci signed L.D. 178, “An Act To Create the Support Animal Welfare Registration Plate,” into law today. The bill was sponsored by Sen. John Nutting, D-Androscoggin. Plate proceeds benefit the Animal Welfare Program and the Companion Animal Sterilization Fund, the Governor’s office said today. “This shows that Maine people are eager to find ways, even in this difficult national economic environment, to support animal welfare,” Baldacci said in a release. The cost of the animal welfare license plate is $20 and will be issued Oct. 1. Bookmark/Search this post with:
