UPDATE: Cony beats Gardiner in double OTThe Cony High school football team scored a come-from-behind 12-6 victory over Gardiner in double overtime Friday night, the first time a game in the series needed more than four quarters to determine a winner. Cony leads the series, which dates to 1892, 66-56-10. Chris Robinson scored the game-winning touchdown on Cony's first play of double overtime when he took a hand-off, shook off two would-be tacklers and raced into the end zone. Robinson and the Rams trailed 6-0 at the end of the first quarter thanks to a 17-yard TD run by quarterback Forrest Chadwick . Cony answered with a 15-yard TD pass from Luke Duncklee to Nick Lucas with 47 seconds left in the half. Gardiner had a few chances late to pull out a victory, but lost a fumble at near the goal line late in the fourth and then missed a 25-yard field goal in the first overtime.

Its great that we won but I feel the game should be played at the end of the year. The students were not even back to school yet. How can the students get behind the game? This game used to be the game of the year for both clubs no matter what the records were. I played in 3 Cony - Gardiner games at the varsity level and never lost!! The week leading to the game was something you never forget. It engulfed the students and faculty. School spirit was everywhere! It is sad to see that taken away from the school and the community. I hope others aggree and can let their voices be heard. This city should be a dominant football town! It should rival the likes of Lawrence, Skowhegan, Biddeford and so on. I hope one day we can bring it to that level. I believe we have the coaches but now the community needs to get behind them 110% GO CONY!! CONY PRIDE!
I guess we did send those Tigers back to the zoo. The outcome is amazing and it was a great intense game. gotta love those Rams!
the outcome is killing me!! GO TIGERS
