Richmond prevails: 38-21

ORONO — Richmond put away Maine 38-21 on Saturday afternoon, flashing so many reasons why they are the No. 1 ranked FCS football team in the country.

The loss is the fourth for Maine (3-4, 2-2 CAA) and 15th straight win for the Spiders (6-0, 4-0).

After a 14-10 Maine lead at the half, Richmond came out a rejuvenated team in the third quarter and pulled away.

Said Richmond QB Eric Ward: "I think we went in, kind of looked at each other and
said we didn’t play our best half of football the first half. We knew we’d need
our best second half to come out and win the game."

Said Maine LB Brandon McLaughlin: "We just had some mistakes and breakdowns to allow them to do
what they did. We just didn’t seem to respond the way we wanted to."
