Maine vs. Hofstra

Maine football heads to Hofstra on Saturday for a Colonial Athletic Association game at 1 p.m.

Of note:

  • LB Mark Masterson is still questionable with a foot/ankle injury.
  • Several players who left last week's game with injuries are expected to  return: DL Eric Lee, DB Dominic Cusano
  • WR Landis Williams has had two straight 100-yard receiving games.
  • LB Donte Dennis had 23 total tackles last week against Delaware.
  • Hofstra defensive coordinator Rich Nagy is a former Maine coach, who served the same role for the Black Bears 2001-05.

Quotable:

From offensive line coach Frank Giufre, talking about the O-line:

"I tell them to be like McDonald's cheeseburgers. Consistent."

"For us the biggest thing is were asking some younger guys to grow up fast. We've got redshirt freshmen and freshman we're asking to grow up overnight. But it doesn't happen. They're doing a good job. And we're always striving for perfection. We'll get there."
