Maine loses leading scorer

The Maine women's basketball team is losing its leading scorer Brittany Boser, who will skip her fourth year of basketball eligibility to graduate in May. This is according to a press release sent out by Maine today. Boser scored a team high 9.9 points per game last season and was the team's leading scorer in nine games.Boser has a year of eligibility left because she redshirted during her freshman season. She never fell behind pursuing her degree in chemical engineering in four years. She was a four time Maine Scholar-Athlete. Boser said in the release: "It's a tough decision, but one that I think is mature and based on academic reasons," Boser said. "I'm at a point in my life where I'm ready to take the next step and move on, whether that's a career or higher level education in my field. It's certainly nothing against my teammates or the University, because I love playing basketball." Maine Coach Cindy Blodgett said: "I want to thank Brittany for her efforts in my first two seasons here at Maine. She defines what a student-athlete is all about. She was terrific in the classroom in a very demanding major and we should celebrate all of her academic accomplishments that she has earned in her time here."
