Perfect scenario for Yankees

Headline on the Minnesota Twins website: "Twins to be tested in first round of playoffs"

You think?

The New York Yankees earned home field advantage in the playoffs and it could not have worked out better for them. Their opponent, the Twins, had to play a draining 12-inning game the night before and then fly from Minnesota to New York for today's early evening game.

The Twins face C.C. Sabathia and will counter with Brian Buensing, a rookie who joined the rotation on Aug. 22. He faced the Yankees once this year as a reliever and gave up four runs in 2 2/3 innings.

Oh, and the Twins went winless against New York this year.

Boston, meanwhile, is doing everything it can to get Rocco Baldelli on the roster. The Red Sox would like Baldelli's right-handed bat (especially against Scott Kazmir), but Baldelli has a sore hip. Boston has until 1 p.m. to announce its roster.
