Dogs lose 2-1; Doubront recovers for okay outing

The Binghamton Mets beat Portland 2-1 Thursday night in a clash of good pitching.

Felix Doubront came out throwing strikes, but could not put hitters away in the first. Binghamton loaded the bases on two hits (both on 0-2 counts) and a walk (after a 1-2 count). One run scored on a sacrifice fly.

Doubront's line: 5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 3 K.

The Sea Dogs were encouraged with how Doubront came back, but want him to go further into the game. He threw 88 pitches (59 strikes).

Argenis Diaz (.254) went 2-for-3.

Center fielder Josh Reddick threw a runner out in the first inning and made a diving catch in the eighth, on a line drive tailing away from him.
